Board Bios

Gail Marks, Executive Director & Board Chair
Founder, Joined K4C Board in 2004

Gail has always been drawn to children's ministry. As a teen she received training as a Sunday school teacher and has been teaching kids since the late '70s in Sunday school, VBS, and Bible clubs. Those experiences led her to start Kids 4 Christ in 2002. Gail has been married since 1980 and has three children and three grandsons. She attends First Baptist LaFayette.

Kristopher Marks, Administrator & Board Vice-Chair
Joined K4C Board in 2008

Kris was a K4C volunteer from the organization's beginning, serving as a volunteer from 2002 to 2007. He became K4C's full-time Administrator in 2007 and was named a Director in 2008, adding to the board his experience with purchasing, office management, information technology, and customer service. He is married to Katie and has three sons.

Karen Oakes, Board Secretary
Joined K4C Board in 2004

Life-long LaFayette resident Karen Oakes became a Christian at age 14. She worked in the banking industry for 18 years and is currently employed by Walker County Family & Children Services. Karen has one daughter and is a member of Naomi Baptist. Karen joined K4C as a volunteer in 2002 and has served on the Board of Directors since its creation.

Gordon Little, Director
Joined K4C Board in 2006

Since accepting Christ in 1968, Gordon has taught many adult and children's sunday school classes. He currently serves as an elder for Summerville Presbyterian (PCA). He has been a pharmacist at Floyd Medical Center since 1997 and enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Gray Jorges, Director
Joined K4C Board in 2007

Raised and educated in Chattanooga, Gray has lived in Chattooga County, GA. for over two decades. He is a former educator with a business background and is currently employed by the Georgia Department of Corrections. He also serves as Director of Mission Aid and as an elder for Summerville Presbyterian (PCA). He is happily married to Donnita and has two daughters.

James Deon Phillips, Director
Joined K4C Board in 2009

Deon Phillips is a life-long resident of NW Georgia and is a graduate of Ringgold High School. After accepting Christ in 1992 he led or participated in many local and foreign mission works and served in youth ministry for 12 years. In 2002 Deon co-founded nonprofit Here I Am, Inc. of Ringgold and continues to serve as Board Chair there. Deon closed his 19-year-old home repair business in 2006 to serve full-time at The Care Mission. Deon has been married to Kendra since 1986 and has four children and two grandchildren. He lives in LaFayette and attends Catlett Community Church.
