K4C FAQs

How Did Kids 4 Christ Begin?

Kids 4 Christ began in 2002 as an informal gathering of Christian people led by God to meet a spiritual need in their community. The original plan was to have weekly Bible classes for kids during the summer, but the need for a permanent children's ministry was great and the Bible classes never stopped. What began then as a weekly activity with only a dozen or so children has grown into today's Kids 4 Christ: a multi-ministry organization serving spiritual and academic needs of hundreds of children.

Who Leads Kids 4 Christ?

K4C Ministries, Inc., the parent of Kids 4 Christ, is governed by a 7-member Board of Directors. Board members are chosen because of their strong Christian backgrounds, faithfulness to God's work, and experience in ministry, business, or education. The Board delegates day-to-day operation to the Executive Director and Administrator who work with a team of unpaid coordinators and volunteers. Current Board Members.

Is K4C Part of a Particular Church or Denomination?

Kids 4 Christ (K4C Ministries, Inc.) is independent and non-denominational. The organization is financially supported through the gifts of individuals, churches, and businesses who have been led to contribute, and has volunteers representing many Christian churches. Ministry staff members are expected to adhere to the organization's core beliefs while working together to provide children with opportunities to learn them as well. K4C does battle each day to provide those opportunities, seeking to serve traditionally underchurched populations.

What Are The Core Beliefs of Kids 4 Christ?

We at Kids 4 Christ recognize Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, God's only Son. We believe in the One True God and that we are all sinners separated from God through our sin. However, we believe that God, as a man named Jesus, came to Earth through a virgin birth, grew and taught God's Word, and was crucified without fault or sin. We also believe that he rose three days later, a victory over sin and death, and that if we believe in Jesus Christ, and if we claim Him as our Lord and Savior and ask for our sins to be cleansed by His death for us in our place, then we become part of the family of God and will one day be with Him in Heaven. We believe that the Bible (and only the Bible) is God's Word. We also believe the Bible calls for personal responsibility and sexual purity and that the Bible forbids a sexual relationship between a man and another man, and a woman and another woman.

These beliefs are spelled out in the Kids 4 Christ staff guidebook all volunteers agree to follow.

What Bible Does K4C Use?

For younger classes story book-type Bibles are used. Upper age classes use the Contemporary English Translation The CEV was translated for those who read on an 4th grade level and was purposefully intended to be understood by people with little or no comprehension of "Bible" language. A child would gain understanding of God from reading any Bible, but the CEV presents the Gospel in a more approachable way with simpler language that a child in elementary or middle school would be willing to read.

What Teaching Materials Are Used at K4C?

Teaching material is chosen by each lead teacher, but must be approved by the Executive Director and program coordinator. Some teachers use prepared kits, some use a mixture of several different books or kits, and some teach directly from the Bible. Material for Cool After School students is customized based on each student's individual needs. Non-traditional teaching methods are often used to teach traditional Biblical truths to children with unique or unusual backgrounds and family situations.

How Many People Work at Kids 4 Christ?

K4C is staffed primarily by unpaid volunteers. Unpaid staffers donate hundreds of hours each month working directly with children or working behind the scenes to keep activities running smoothly. Currently K4C has roughly 25 volunteers and two salaried staff who are paid only when funds remain after all other expenses are covered. For detail see the ministry's Financial Data.
