Local Ministry Provides Educational Assistance
Kids 4 Christ Helps Local Kids With School Supplies, After School Care

Kids 4 Christ is mainly known in LaFayette for being a Christian organization providing Bible classes for local youth, but K4C is also an educational organization working to help kids compete in school and have more successful adult lives.

On August 7th Kids 4 Christ volunteers gave away 240 book bags filled with supplies during its annual Back 2 School Blast. The Blast was attended by 327 kids and adults who were not only given book bags but also enjoyed carnival-type games, an inflatable, and face painting.

In the current economy some families would have to choose between eating or buying school supplies if not for Back 2 School Blast. Local churches and businesses contribute time, money, and supplies for the annual carnival as a way of reaching out to those families battling hard times.

As part of a commitment to education, Kids 4 Christ provides free after-school academic assistance for LaFayette students in 1st through 5th grade. This year the 15 kids enrolled in K4C's Cool After School are receiving daily homework assistance, participating in hands-on learning, participating in weekly recreational activities, and improving their knowledge of basic topics in language arts and mathematics through enrichment teaching.

Assistance doesn't stop at fifth grade. Kids 4 Christ also offers a teen leadership building program, Teens in Training. High school students serving as Teens in Training help with other K4C programs while learning job skills and responsibility. Youth who complete Teens in Training and graduate high school are more prepared to work than the average 18-year-old and some choose to give back by continuing to serve as adult volunteers.

Kids 4 Christ provides a full package of Bible classes, free school supplies, free after-school academic care, and teen development in order to help at-risk youth in LaFayette grow into the successful and capable adults God created them to be.
